Part 3: The Decision – Do It for You

cat tattoo

Well… there’s no going back now. πŸ‘€ I actually did it.

And honestly? I didn’t do it because I’d finally found the courage. I did it because I wanted the tattoo.

At 44, I’ve arrived in my ‘don’t give a f**’ era – and it feels like the most liberating thing I’ve ever done. πŸ˜„

I’ve stopped second-guessing myself, stopped worrying about other people’s opinions, stopped wasting unnecessary energy. Right now, I’m doing things for me. So I got the tattoo.

It’s of Momo – my first cat. She passed away in 2023. She was beautiful, and I wanted to be able to see her every day; properly see her – whenever I wanted. Not just in photos. On me. Permanently.

And now that it’s done?

I keep looking at it. It’s so me. It’s so Momo. I love it – even the pain was worth it.

But here’s the thing I keep coming back to, and why I wanted to share it with you.

On the day, I just felt the design wasn’t quite right. It was still beautiful – but it wasn’t 100% perfect, and because it was permanent, I couldn’t settle for anything less. Rather than staying quiet, I spoke up, and as a result, I sat with the artist and we worked through it together until it was exactly what it needed to be. Not what looked fine. Not what was easiest. But what was right for me and what I wanted.

πŸ’‘ And that’s the bit I really want you to take away:

How often do we settle for what’s convenient, what’s expected, what doesn’t rock the boat – instead of asking for what we actually want?

How often do we put off doing something – starting training, joining a class, getting back into a routine – because we’re waiting until it feels like the right time, or until we feel ready, or until it fits into someone else’s schedule?

Here’s what I’ve learned: you have to decide to do it for you. Not for anyone else’s timeline. Not to look a certain way for someone else. Not to tick a box. For you – because you want to feel strong, because you want to feel like yourself again, because you deserve to show up for yourself the same way you show up for everyone else.

It’s part of why I love being a personal trainer. Honestly, it’s the best feeling seeing clients transform – not just physically, but in how they carry themselves. They started working with me on a 1:1 basis or joined my group personal training offering because they finally decided to do something for themselves. And that decision changed everything. Knowing I’ve been a part of their journey, that’s what keeps me jumping out of bed at 4am every morning!

And just like that tattoo session – every design is individual. Your programme should be built around you – what you enjoy, what you need, and what’s going to get you where you actually want to be. It’s a collaboration, not a prescription.

So if there’s something you’ve been putting off – this is your nudge. πŸ’ͺ

Not because summer is around the corner. Not because someone told you to. Not because the kids have grown up. Not because you feel like you should.

Because you want to. Because you’re worth it. Because why not now?

If you’re ready to do something for yourself, I’d love to help. Join me today. Do it for you.

And if you see me in the gym… feel free to ask to see Momo. πŸ˜„
