Do you know what to look for in a Personal Trainer?
It can be a significant decision, as you want to work with someone that’s really going to motivate you!
Here are 5 things I think you should consider:
1: Different training methods
What will work for you? Is it an online programme? Remote training done via video call? Mobile personal training that comes to your home or an outdoor space near you? Or gym-based personal training?
2: Credentials
How much experience does the trainer have, and are they qualified? Most should be Level 3 qualified, but also check that they are still actively learning and keeping their knowledge up-to-date through seminars, workshops or online training.
3: Personality
Are you compatible?! Do you trust them and do you feel comfortable around them? Each trainer has a different style of coaching, so take a consultation to see how you get on with them.
4: Coaching style
Do they have a client-focused style of coaching? Can their workouts fit with your goals? Can they create sessions that you love around exercises you enjoy doing?
5: Questions
Ask lots of them at your consultation, and listen to what they ask you! They should ask about your lifestyle, diet, previous fitness routines, injuries, and medication. They need all this info to start a new programme of training!
